games and communication activities

 

GAMES AND ACTIVITIES

 

· Make a birthday flower : (write the months in the petals and « when is your birthday ? »or « apples,peaches ,pears and plums, tell me when your birthday comes » in the centre.)

· Tennis ball : throw to next speaker (months, days of the week, counting, the alphabet)

· Plasticene /play-doh activities

· Wall charts (and vocabulary grids)

· Word wheel (calendar / questions / something beginning with….the weather today/ how I feel)

· Mime activities : (5 mins to find as much information as possible about the other person, report back to the teacher : "he/she told me that....")

· Rhymes (« 2,4,6,8, tell me what is on your plate « 4 short poems etc)

· The chair on my right is empty (colours, clothes, the alphabet, numbers, nationalities, animals etc)

· Correct a drawing (draw father xmas in shorts on a beach, or Muzzy as a small thin blue monster)

· Simon Says (actions)

· Bingo (picture bingo/sentences + pictures/numbers/colours etc)

· Advent calendar

· Listen and draw (positions : in,on,under,beside,behind / colours / numbers /objects etc)

· Listen and colour

· Make a monster ,group work (use a dice : throw for the number of eyes,legs,horns etc)

· Happy families card game (« have you got … ? »)

· Write a letter to Father Christmas (« I’d like a/some… »)

· Write on someone’s back with your finger (a letter, a number, a word)

· Say in turn - all stand - sit down if it is wrong (the alphabet / numbers)

· Chinese Whispers (a letter, a word, a sentence, a number)

· Word cards (one word per card, matching beginning and end of sentences, singulars and plurals, make sentences, sorting etc)

· Word cubes (make a sentence, negations, best sentence, longest sentence,)

· Games in a circle – 2 groups : (questions using flash cards « can you… ?, « I’ve got… » « I like… »)

· Flash cards (for games in a circle, bingo, showing a new item, asking questions,playing shops etc)

· Kim’s game (remove an object, change the positions, memorise 10 objects, animals, monsters)

· Snapdragons (questions « how many… ? » colours, adjectives)

· Pairwork (positions, numbers, sizes, comparisons, colours, objects, eg. A plan of your room, food on the table, a map of your village,)

· Add to a neverendingstory……..orally or on the internet

· Action songs (« hands up,hands down »)

· Jazz chants (« Gus », « where’s Jack ? »)

· Songs (Ernie, 10 little Indians, I wish you a merry Christmas, Fish and Chips, Today is Monday)

· Videos (Muzzy in Gondoland, Wizadora,)

· Jazz chant « where is Tiger ? » Popcorn cassette 2, side 2
